FAMILY TREE MAKER FOCUS GROUP

Topic: Direct Descendant Charts

Topic: Among other topics, we will be working on generating a direct
descendant chart showing siblings. Has any one constructed such a thing?

The L-AGS Family Tree Maker (FTM) Focus Group meets (during the school year)
the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 at the Ed Rundstrom
Learning Center (formerly the Sonoma Avenue School), Room 8, 543 Sonoma Ave.,

Most of our group are FTM users (from beginners to experts) who discuss
problems and solutions, share successes, answer questions, and in general
help each other with the Family Tree Maker genealogical software. All persons
interested or potentially interested in Family Tree Maker
are invited to attend.  For information on our group please call Dick
Finn at 925-XXX-XXXX or e-mail him at XXXX@wecare.net. Contact Dick
for information about topics to be discussed.  Visitors are welcome and
there is no charge to attend. Bring your questions, comments, and
  if you have a laptop with FTM loaded and/or the FTM Handbook you might
bring them also.

Kenneth's talk will be about Resources at the Oakland Family History Center.
He is has been a at the History Center for a long time and is the Assistant
Director who takes care of the supplies needed for the Center as well as the
Software.  He is an expert Genealogist who finds answers for people who have
tough problems.

Getting the Most Out of The Master Genealogist
Chapter 6 - Sentence Structures
By Terry Reigel

Terry Reigel states: "Sentence structures in each Tag are templates, or maps,
which tell TMG how to assemble the information in those fields to generate
narrative style reports." Chapter 6 from Getting the Most Out of the Master
Genealogist helps you determine how you wish to 
present TMG data, and help you to
master the concept of TMG's sentence structure.

We will discuss the different methods of dealing with sentence structures.

·   Ignore the sentence structure (don't use any narrative reports).
·   Use the default sentence structure.
·   Customize default sentence structures by creating custom Tag Types, using
Role. Customize occasional sentence structures.
·   Use a combination of default Tags and customized sentence structures. Use
a word processor when you get to the publishing stage.
Use customized sentence structures for default Tag Types, custom Tag Types,
including use of Roles, and heavily customize the sentence structures of
individual Tags to achieve quality prose.

Title - Locating, Organizing, Copying and Storing Your Photos and Documents

Want to know how to create a digitized copy of a letter or photo? Once
scanned, can you find your files on your 
computer? Do you already have numerous
photos on your computer, all in different locations? Do you want to centralize
those photos and burn them to a CD?

We'll have several laptops, scanners and CD burners to demonstrate locating,
organizing, copying and storing your photos and documents. A digital projector
will be utilized for easy viewing. If you have specific questions, please
send them to study.group@L-AGS.org prior to the meeting.
