Topic: Voter Registration Records Many of our ancestors immigrated to America because of political reasons. The freedom to vote was very important to our ancestors as they felt they were contributing to the betterment of their lives and to the lives of their future generations. Therefore, many people took every opportunity to vote. Do you know what can be found in voter registration records? These records can pinpoint your ancestor in a distinct place and time. Voter registration records often are used as replacement for lost or destroyed records. Come to our Thursday, November 18th meeting and learn more about these often overlooked research tools. The L-AGS Study Group is an informal meeting of family historians and researchers. We represent those who have spent many decades learning methods and techniques’s to those who are just beginning their research journey. One of the many things we all have in common is the willingness to share and help others. We meet on the third Thursday of every month at the LDS Church, 950 Mocho, Livermore, 7:30 p.m. I do hope you will mark us on your calendar for this and future meetings. _______________________________________________________________ Tri-Valley TMG Users Group Kay Speaks, Leader Saturday, November 20, 2004 Join us at our monthly meeting for the Tri-Valley TMG Users Group. We meet every third Saturday of the month at 9:00 AM-Noon, 7077 Koll Center Parkway, Suite 110, Pleasanton, California. At the November meeting we'll discuss Chapter 2 of Leo Hoffman's book, "Getting the Most Out of TMG". Chapter 2 deals with all Project Management functions for data sets and projects -- including merging and splitting data. We'll also learn how to create a desktop icon for a specific project or "family tree". Please read Chapter 2 prior to the meeting. A free demo of the TMG software can be obtained from www.whollygenes.com. _______________________________________________________________ COMPUTER INTEREST GROUP Dick Finn and George Anderson, Group Leaders mailto:computer.chair@L-AGS.org The Computer Interest Group (CIG) will not be meeting during November or December because of conflecting holidays. After the first of the year CIG will join with the L-AGS Study Group forming a new group that will study general genealogy topics as well as computer related items that have a link to genealogy. Please join us after the first of the year on the third Thursday of each month. The new group will be called the L-AGS Study Group. _______________________________________________________________ Holiday Schedule In November we will begin our fall holidays schedule for 2004. The Family History Center on Mocho Street in Livermore plans to be closed on November 25 - 28, 2004 for Thanksgiving. To avoid finding a genealogical research facility closed on the day when you want to make a visit, it is wise to telephone ahead. Our home page has telephone numbers for many facilities under "Local Libraries & Family History Centers." _______________________________________________________________
