URL for a map to the meeting place: < http://www.L-AGS.org/koll.center.html > Program: Creating a Research Database Using TMG The National Genealogical Society Magazine, January/February 2003, has a ten page write up on The Master Genealogist, Version 5. Bill Mumford, who writes the genealogy software scorecard and is a regular contributor to the NGS magazine's software review, has rated this software the number one genealogy software. Mr. Mumford writes, "While TMG is a very comprehensive program, with many features and options, this does not mean the program is any more difficult to use than programs offering fewer features. The newcomer will obtain very satisfactory results using the default settings. As they gain experience, they will find the features they require available." I hope you will take the opportunity to read this article as it has samples of the different screen shots and lists the many features of this new 32 bit Version 5. You can also read about the software at the Wholly Genes site on the Internet and download a free demo copy of the software at www.whollygenes.com. Our March meeting will feature the creation of a separate Research database using TMG, which will result in research extract reports. Those attending will receive a copy of this master research template. We meet every third Saturday of every month, 9:00 a.m. - noon, Birch Court, 7077 Koll Center Parkway, Suite 110, Pleasanton, CA. If you have general questions during the month, be sure to address them to tvtmg@l-ags.org.
