He brought more than a love of the land--he came with a dream and a knack for innovation. In 1883, C. H. Wente turned his dream into reality by purchasing his own forty-eight acres of land in California's Livermore Valley, just east of the San Francisco Bay...and the Wente family vineyard was born. Through five generations, the Wente family has been dedicated to the art of winemaking and to the philosophy that the quality of a wine originates in the vineyards. The family operations have grown to include three historic wineries, over 3000 acres of vineyards, an award winning restaurant, a world-class golf course, and worldwide distribution in over 150 countries. Today, Wente Vineyards is recognized as California's Lifestyle Winery. Arel is married to Eric Wente, CEO of the Fourth Generation. Their daughter, Christine, is currently at Stanford Business School. Their son, Karl, is back in the family business as winemaker. Arel speaks often to groups outside the Livermore Valley, most especially as the Wine Educator on Cruise Ships, and is happy to be joining our group this evening Mary Dillon, Program Chairperson For information contact Mary Dillon at mailto:program@L-AGS.org.
