===================================================================== LIVERMORE-AMADOR GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY E-BULLETIN FOR JULY 2000 July 6, 2000 ===================================================================== A N N O U N C E M E N T S Apologies for the late delivery of this bulletin. We were in the Midwest for ten days for a memorial service for my late 105-year-old aunt, a family reunion, and a genealogical safari around Minnesota and Iowa. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Library hours extended The Pleasanton Library is now open starting at 10 AM instead of Noon on Mondays and Tuesdays. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L-AGS at the Alameda County Fair Our experimental booth at the Alameda County Fair is a success (see photos at http://www.l-ags.org/l-ags.photos.html). We have had hundreds of fairgoers stop to enter the Birthplace Contest, look for their families on our CDs, and get encouragement from our docents to begin research on their ancestors. We hope to convince the visitors to visit our book and CD collection at the Pleasanton Library and to come as guests to our meetings. Our booth is in the "Small Animals" building at the fair. Docents are on hand on Thursday and Saturday afternoons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- New CD-ROMs at the Pleasanton Library Six new CDs were put into the carousels at the Pleasanton Library on July 5. They are CD650, "Kentucky Land Records", and WF 38-42, World Family Tree pedigrees. ===================================================================== C O M I N G E V E N T S Visitors are welcome at all of our meetings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L-AGS FAMILY TREE MAKER FOCUS GROUP Dick Finn, Group Leader Thursday, July 6, 2000 - 7:30 PM Location: Mocho Street LDS Church, 950 Mocho Street, Livermore URL for a map to the church: http://www.l-ags.org/mocho.html NOTE THE CHANGE IN LOCATION FOR THE SUMMER We are primarily a group of Family Tree Maker users (from beginners to experts) who discuss/share problems and successes and in general help each other in the use of FTM software. It will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 4 PM at the Ravenswood Neighborhood Park in Livermore. This is across the street from the home of President Jon Bryan at 2639 Tahoe Drive. This will be a "potluck" picnic. Bring enough of a single dish or dessert to share plus hot dogs or hamburgers for your family. We will assume that there will be only a little duplication in the dishes and desserts. We will plan to have hot charcoal grills there to cook the meats. Non-members of L-AGS who would like to attend the picnic are asked to contact Debbie Pizzato at XXXX@aol.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- GENEALOGY STUDY GROUP Vicki Renz, Leader Thursday, July 20, 2000 - 7:30 PM Location: Mocho Street LDS Church, 950 Mocho Street, Livermore URL for a map to the church: http://www.l-ags.org/mocho.html The topic for this month will be announced later. Our discussions are not limited to the given topic, so if you have a problem or a solution, come to the meeting and tell us about it. Better yet, use the new e-mail list to post the subject and give the group a chance to think about it in advance.
