Billie became the new Director of Library Services for the Pleasanton Library last February. Billie will speak about "What is New at the Pleasanton Library." Billie's appearance should provide our L-AGS membership and guests with a unique and timely opportunity to find out about her plans for the Pleasanton Library, which has recently made the transition from part of the Alameda County Library system to an independent municipal Library. Billie indicated that she hoped we would bring questions and ideas. This provides a nice follow-up to the recent "City of Pleasanton Public Library Rededication" held on August 29th. Billie Dancy has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Riverside, and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is married and has one son and one daughter. Billie and her husband currently live in Oakland. Billie has worked in various library systems throughout California for more than 25 years including Riverside, South San Francisco and Oakland. In 1996, she was appointed Director of Library Services for the City of Oakland, where she administered an urban library system with 15 branches that served over 400,000 residents in the Cities of Oakland, Piedmont and Emeryville. There she oversaw a department budget of $14 million, a staff of 300, and over 500 volunteers. L-AGS members and guests are urged to bring questions about the Pleasanton Library to ask of our speaker. Jon Bryan - - - - - Visitors are welcome at all L-AGS meetings.
