According to the Tri-Valley Herald (1/2/99), the Mosiers have been chronicling the history of Bay Area mining towns since 1978. Dan hopes to have copies of a new book "History of Tesla - A California Coal Mining Town" available for this meeting. Dan and his wife Page are proprietors of Mines Road Books. The name comes from the road that winds through the scenic mountains of southeastern Alameda County, California. The road was once the scene of various mining activities. Some of the information in the video includes: the "how-tos" of trees and charts, methods for including certain people and items in printed trees, kinship reports, performing a Family Archive CD search, changing color and style of reports and trees, getting to know Family Books and Master Sources, demonstrations of various Internet searches, libraries and other online items, etc. The video shows many different ways to use and modify Family Books including creation, custom items, paginate properly and generation of Indexes and Tables of Contents. There will be handouts and a door prize. Non-members are welcome to attend at no cost. The Fair will be held on Friday, April 9th - 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM; and Saturday, April 10th - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our booth at the fair will feature an exhibit of "My famous ancestor" posters contributed by members. If you have a kinsman who did something famous or infamous and have a picture or graphic or artifact to illustrate the event, we would like to develop a poster to put on display. The gift is greatly appreciated. If you have occasion to honor a loved one, a donation to our library is quite fitting. You can earmark the gift in any way you want, and we will attach a permanent memorial to the book, CD or other item purchased. If you know of L-AGS members who would like to use our CDs at the Pleasanton Library, but who are not computer literate, please let me know. We will probably be able to find someone to tutor them at a mutually agreeable time.
