------------------------------------------------------------- April 1, 1997 ------------------------------------------------------------- LIVERMORE-AMADOR GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MONTHLY E-BULLETIN ------------------------------------------------------------- L-AGS Founder in Hospital Ed Pyle, who can be said to be "the" founder of L-AGS, is in Valley Memorial Hospital in Livermore recovering from major surgery for an aneurysm of the aorta. He is in Room 320B and may be there anywhere from one week to six weeks depending on his progress. Ed taught the class in 1977 which resulted in the formation of the Amador Genealogical Society, now known as the Livermore-Amador Genealogical Society. ------------------------------------------------------------- The following is a list of coming events for L-AGS. The topic is "Using Maps in Your Genealogical Research". The regular study group meeting in May will be the last one until September. Non-Members are welcome. Members needing advice about a genealogy problem at any time between meetings may call one of the club officers, who will attempt to find a member who can help. ------------------------------------------------------------- Computer Interest Group Thursday, April 24, 1997 - 7:30 pm Program: Software Focus Groups Location: LDS Church, 950 Mocho Street, Livermore The L-AGS Computer Interest Group will meet at 7:30 P.M., Thursday April 24, 1997 at the LDS Church , 950 Mocho Street, Livermore. Group leader is Doug Mumma. This will be the initial meeting of the Genealogy software focus groups. Preliminary results of the software questionnaire showed sufficient interest to have MAC focus groups for PAF and Reunion while Windows user groups will cover Family Tree Maker, PAF, Family Origins and Roots V. The focus groups will meet separately with designated leaders and discuss meeting times and locations. Results of the questionnaire will be distributed. Non-Members welcome. The hours are: Monday and Tuesday Noon to 9 pm Wednesday and Thursday 10 am to 9 pm Friday closed Saturday 10 am to 5 pm Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm A L-AGS docent, helping with the Internet as well as with genealogy, is currently on duty at the library on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm.
