------------------------------------------------------------- November 30, 1996 ------------------------------------------------------------- LIVERMORE-AMADOR GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MONTHLY E-BULLETIN ------------------------------------------------------------- L-AGS World Wide Web site on the Internet Our Web site has expanded considerably since its debut on CCnet on November 15. The address is http://www.ccnet.com/~gwa/lags/lags.html Among the additions is a full-text online copy of our book, "Livermore Cemeteries." We also have added links to the Pleasanton and Livermore Libraries, to some of the most useful genealogy sites elsewhere, and to members' pages. If you have or are planning a Web presence, we would like to put a link to it on the L-AGS site. If you haven't yet looked at the new L-AGS pages, take a peek and give feedback to George Anderson or Doug Mumma. We are especially interested in problems you might have reaching the site or navigating around in it. We would also like suggestions for making it more useful. We are just about ready to move to a permanent server. When we do, the CCnet site will remain as a duplicate for awhile, and a forwarding link will stay on CCnet permanently. ------------------------------------------------------------- The following is a list of coming events for L-AGS. Visitors and guests are always welcome to attend our meetings. ------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, December 10 at 7:30 pm Regular monthly meeting for December 1996 Program "Sharing: What I did on my genealogical safari last summer" Location - Congregation Beth Emek, 1886 College Avenue, Livermore All members are invited to share their last summer's genealogical adventures with the rest of the group. We would especially like to hear about hot tips for success, never-do-that-again misadventures, and "Eureka!" experiences. Everyone is also invited to bring holiday goodies to share. Bring plenty! The surplus will be donated to local rest homes. At the business meeting, nominations will be accepted from the floor for the slate of officers for 1997. Members are urged to contact Linda Curry before the meeting if they are willing to be placed in nomination, or if they have a suggested nominee. Nominations may be made from the floor providing the nominee is present or has previously given written permission. After nominations are closed, the election will be held. For information call David Abrahams at XXX-XXXX or John Walden at XXX-XXXX. Non-members are welcome at our meetings. ------------------------------------------------------------- Coming January 14, 1997 - Merilyn "Tillie" Calhoun will speak on "Livermore History." ------------------------------------------------------------- Study Group There will be NO meeting of the study group in December. Meetings will resume in January. The Study Group discusses topics in beginning to intermediate genealogy. A group leader provides a subject for each meeting and handouts are available. There is always an active question and answer session. By combining the many talents of our members we hope to help each other with our family research problems. Members needing advice about a genealogy problem at any time between meetings may call one of the club officers, who will attempt to find a member who can help. For information call Jolene Abrahams at XXX-XXXX. ------------------------------------------------------------- Computer Interest Group There will be NO meeting of the CIG in December because of the conflict with Christmas. Meetings will resume in January. Members needing help with a computer problem at any time between meetings may call one of the mentors listed in the Members' Handbook. ------------------------------------------------------------- More hours for our Library!
