Note from L-AGS: This is a duplicate of part of the transcription of the 1870 census for all of Alameda County, California, as published by Edward A. Black, Sr. at RootsWeb. L-AGS is posting this fraction of Mr. Black's work on our Society's Web page, with his permission, so that the names in the census will be found by researchers using the L-AGS site-wide search engine.

Murray Township in 1870 encompassed all of Eastern Alameda County, including the towns of Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin and Sunol.

As mentioned by Mr. Black in his introduction below, L-AGS Member Gary Drummond proofread the transcription for him. Gary's remarks are inserted at the proper place in the text, inside of square brackets and followed by "GBD". Gary's letter to Mr. Black is appended after the last page of the data.
