Visitors and guests are always welcome to attend our meetings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Regular Monthly Meeting Tuesday, May 10, 1997 at 7:30 pm Program: Molly Locklin speaking on "Videotaping Your Family Records" Location: Congregation Beth Emek, 1886 College Avenue, Livermore Molly and her partner, Jayne Thaler Moore, formed a company, "Family History Video," in Berkeley about one year ago. They describe their goal as follows. "Family History Video was formed primarily out of our interest in documenting our own family history and desiring to find a way to creatively present this history. Like many people, Jayne and I had closets full of photo albums we seldom if ever looked at. These albums are full of gems of history and memories. Family History Video has created a way for people to "produce" their own history on video. Using the very best photos, slides and home movies, we edit, add special effects and music to create a custom documentary for a family. We can cover over 125 years of a family's history in less than an hour. "In our presentation on June 10th, we will discuss how a family should prepare their photos and other memorabilia and show a brief demo tape with examples showing our special effects." This enterprise is compiling a massive computer database of linked family trees submitted by users of Family Tree Maker and other software. Banner Blue is releasing the database in Macintosh as well as PC format. FUTURE MEETINGS - Below is a listing of upcoming meetings so you can mark your calendars accordingly. July 24 - Art Lassagne from the GOLD BUG will present AniMap, a computer program which displays the changing county boundaries for all states since colonial times. He will also discuss historical maps that he has available. Other topics for future meetings include "Creation of Wall Charts for Reunions," "How to Effectively Use Your Word Processor in Your Genealogical Research," and "Security Issues When Surfing the Internet." The hours are: Monday and Tuesday Noon to 9 pm Wednesday and Thursday 10 am to 9 pm Friday closed Saturday 10 am to 5 pm Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm A L-AGS docent, helping with the Internet as well as with genealogy, is currently on duty at the library on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm.
